The Beginning on the Tzu Chi Gold Coast

In 1999, on the Gold Coast, Australia, a group of Tzu Chi volunteers from Taiwan took their first step in overseas humanitarian work, driven by a deep compassion for the suffering of all beings. Though more than 6,000 kilometers from home, their hearts remained closely connected to the hardships of the world. From that single compassionate intention, nearly 30 years of dedicated service have followed. Tzu Chi Gold Coast has shown that selfless giving allows compassion to take root and flourish anywhere in the world.
