Guided by Compassion: Safeguarding Community Health

Guided by the compassionate vision of Master Cheng Yen, the Tzu Chi International Medical Association in Melbourne (TIMA Melbourne) partnered with North Richmond Community Health in 2014 to conduct its first dental outreach.

Since then, TIMA Melbourne has organized integrated medical clinics every 6 to 12 months, bringing together multidisciplinary professionals in dentistry, general medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, and physiotherapy to safeguard the physical and mental well-being of local residents.Starting from 2026, TIMA Melbourne provides free monthly TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) services at the Box Hill Police Station.

Serving the Vulnerable: Healing Minds and Bodies with Dignity

Over the years, TIMA Melbourne has built strong partnerships with local medical institutions and community organisations. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and integrated care, the team strives to enhance healthcare accessibility, health equity, and continuity of care, ensuring underserved populations receive comprehensive and dignified medical services.

Deepening Community Partnerships: Enhancing Healthcare Access

Our services primarily assist newly arrived asylum seekers without formal refugee status, individuals experiencing homelessness, and vulnerable families referred by Tzu Chi and partner charities.

TIMA volunteers firmly believe that every life is precious and deserving of dignity. Every consultation is more than medical care; it is an act of deep compassion that comforts both body and mind.

Health Promotion: Practicing Prevention Over Cure

In addition to direct medical outreach, TIMA Melbourne actively advocates health promotion and disease prevention.

Through healthy diet campaigns, health seminars, Chinese medicine consultations, and wellness education, we support community members in cultivating healthy habits, safeguarding mind-body balance, and fulfilling the principle that "prevention is better than cure."
