Toowoomba Refugee Dental Fair
Refugees and people seeking asylum in Toowoomba face a waiting of over 2 years for public dental treatment and often cannot afford private care. The city is home to Australia’s largest Yazidi community, with settlement agencies noting rapid growth since 2017—making culturally safe, locally delivered care essential.
Our annual one-day dental fair, in partnership with Darling Downs Health and Multicultural Australia provide free check-ups, fillings, extractions and oral-health education. In 2024, the fair treated 79 patients, with an estimated in-kind value of A$28,800.
Beyond immediate relief, the model is helping to ease public waiting lists and reduce potentially avoidable emergency presentations for dental pain.
