Supporting education and brighter futures
Scholarship Program
Since July 2022, Tzu Chi volunteers from the Gold Coast have initiated the New Shoot Scholarships program at Brassall State School in Brisbane. Upholding Master Cheng Yen’s teaching that “No matter how challenging the circumstances may be, a child’s education should never be put on hold.” the program is dedicated to caring for and supporting students from low-income families.
Through close collaboration with the school, volunteers gain an understanding of the students’ actual needs and provide scholarships to families facing financial hardship. This support helps ease the burden on parents, allowing children to attend school with peace of mind and focus wholeheartedly on their learning.
The scholarships are distributed twice a year, accompanying the children through each stage of their educational journey. Since its inception, the program has continued steadily, with the hope of illuminating a brighter future for these children, while nurturing seeds of goodness to take root and flourish within the community.
