Tree Planting Day

Planting hope for the earth’s future

Planting hope for the earth’s future

Master Cheng Yen once proposed in 1990 that we should “use the hands that applaud to do recycling and environmental protection.” This teaching has been practised for many years in Perth’s environmental work. Tree planting is among the most representative activities: volunteers cooperate with the community, schools, and municipal departments so that each sapling may become future shade. On National Tree Day 2015, a large-scale planting was completed at Lake Claremont; on City of Perth Tree Planting Day 2024, the parent-child class joined again so children and parents could plant “love for the earth” into their own hands together. The greatest educational meaning of tree planting is that it cannot be rushed; it requires yearly commitment and patient care. When volunteers are willing to bend down for the long term, environmental restoration is no longer a slogan, but a visible accumulation over time.

Environmental Protection - tree-planting activities

Through tree-planting activities, the aim is to share the idea of doing our part for the earth and to remind everyone to care about the environment in which we live.

Environmental Protection - Australian Clean Up Day and Tree Planting Day

Australian Clean Up Day and Tree Planting Day are major annual events at the Perth Liaison Office. These grounded outdoor activities are especially loved by young people and families with children. They are not only outings, but also rare opportunities for outdoor learning, allowing everyone to build beautiful environments and memories together through action.
